Review: "The qualities and finishes that can be achieved with high firing appeal to many potters and ceramicists. However, firing clay at temperatures of about 1300[degrees]C imposes demands on the clay, glazes and kilns used that are not a problem with lower firings. In this book, Richard Dewar discusses the various considerations that need to be taken into account when working at these temperatures. He also shows the myriad of techniques and glazes that can be used to decorate this ware. The work of an international group of artists is used to illustrate these methods. The result is a useful reference book that will also provide inspiration for anyone wanting to work in this field."--Jacket.
